Starting Point:
Any faction office in Malachite. Characters pitch their plans and receive initial funding based on their proposed venture.
DM-Notes:
This quest functions as a long-term framework rather than a single session. Player businesses established here (Bam’s Bangers and Boomers, Alchemy and Alcheyou, Skurk & Ko) feed back into the campaign through downtime rolls — use the business mechanics from the vault’s property and business rules (d20 × multiplier minus operating costs, DC varies by risk level).
Dragon Logistics will attempt to recruit the party to map the volcanic core — their real interest is intel on the dwarves’ drill. Dwarven Union needs spare parts for complicated modules for their grand project and will request aid from Chrysalis Labs. Chrysalis Labs wants observations of long-term originium exposure and its byproducts.
The faction the party aligns with most strongly here shapes their reputation and which NPCs become long-term allies. L’oriel Al’ar manages the Dragon Logistics office in the Docks ward and may approach the party directly with more lucrative (and shadier) work once a relationship is established.
Properties acquired through this quest can later be leveraged by Kristen Wright as in the Deep-Earth Tunneling Logistics contract — a natural escalation if the players become invested in their businesses.
