Description
Morlock Fallward is the retired High Priest of Boldrei in Town Malachite, having passed the role on to his son Martin Fallward. Highly respected by the people, and rather less so by those who know him better — his age is catching up with him, and his memory seems to worsen as time goes on. He is one of the few individuals in Malachite capable of performing high-level divine magic, including healing, resurrection, and restoration.
He can come across as an eccentric old man: street rumor tells of him stumbling out of the Iris Tavern at dawn with two young ladies, though this is in fact just Morlock having lost his way after prayer.
Motivations
- Continues to serve his community and church in an advisory, semi-retired capacity, despite stepping back from the role of High Priest.
- Willing to lend his healing, resurrection, and restoration magic to those who help him or earn his trust — for the party, this took the form of a token of gratitude after they assisted him, with an offer of aid should something grim befall them (lost limbs and the like).
- Currently devoted to nursing Titania back to health after her poisoning, having personally escorted her to Chrysalis City for care.
Role in the Campaign
- Delivered a letter to Melusine describing the condition of Titania, the great silver dragon, after she was stabbed with a knife coated in active originium.
- Escorted Titania to Chrysalis City himself, arriving to care for her; she remains under his care there while she recovers.
- Visited the party at the Feygarden Tavern in Chrysalis for a lengthy conversation, around the time he was confirmed to be arriving to escort Titania.
Relationships
- Martin Fallward — Son; current High Priest of Boldrei in Malachite, having taken over the role from Morlock.
- Titania — Under his care in Chrysalis City following her poisoning; he is nursing her back to health.
- Melusine — He sent her a letter with news of Titania’s condition.
- Kazaman — Recipient (indirectly) of an Asmodeus-delivered message naming Morlock “the key” to the Al’ar/Rhine Labs sky-darkening project.
- Dwargon Malachite — Sees Morlock as a potential last resort for his advancing oripathy, given Morlock’s restoration magic.
Notes
- This page consolidates every “Morlock” reference in the vault into one character, per Konrad’s note that all mentions refer to the same person, later given the surname Fallward — confirmed directly by the “Under the Tavern and the Mineral” session note, which lists “Morlock Fallward (Father)” and “Martin Fallward (Son)” together.
- “Morlock is the key” (Asmodeus, via Kazaman) is an open plot thread not yet resolved elsewhere in the vault — worth flagging for future development.
