Description

Titania is not a name — it is a title. Silver wyrms have long kept a tradition of passing the mantle of Titania to whichever of their kind inherits the mountain as their domain. By maintaining a single unbroken legend of one great dragon watching over Terra, they preserve the protective mystique that keeps humanoid civilizations from growing bold enough to challenge them.

The current Titania inherited the post in the aftermath of the precursor civilization’s collapse, making her ancient by any reckoning — old enough to remember what came before the island’s second age of settlement, and old enough to know things that no living humanoid does.

She makes her home on the mountain that bears the title’s name, where her lingering magic causes crystals of magical origin to grow from the rock. She is capable of assuming human form, though shifting between forms is taxing — especially in her current weakened state.

Motivations

  • Preserve Terra’s current civilization — not by ruling it, but by watching closely and intervening just enough to prevent history from repeating itself.
  • Avoid the mistakes of the precursor civilization. She has seen what unchecked ambition and misuse of originium can do, and she carries that knowledge as both a burden and a responsibility.
  • Collect and preserve lore and culture from places beyond Terra. This Titania is deeply curious about the world outside the island, and finds people who originate from elsewhere naturally compelling — they carry histories and perspectives she cannot observe from the mountain.

Role in the Campaign

Titania discovered the true nature of the Horizon Arc Project and sought to warn and recruit the party. She had been watching Rhine Lab and came to regret not acting sooner.

She was ambushed — taken by surprise by someone capable of tracking a dragon in human form. The attacker stabbed her with a blade coated in active originium, wounding her, poisoning her, and triggering oripathy. She describes the attacker only as “a drow carrying a white snake.”

She is now in critical condition, being cared for by Morlock Fallward in Chrysalis City. Transforming between her dragon and human form worsens her state and should be avoided. The active originium in her wounds is actively eating into her flesh.

Relationships

  • Morlock Fallward — Currently under his care in Chrysalis City.
  • Melusine — Melusine is deeply worried about her condition and received word of it via Morlock’s letter.

Notes

  • Titania is a title, not a personal name. Silver wyrms pass it to whichever of their kind inherits the mountain as their domain, preserving the humanoid legend of a single eternal guardian dragon.
  • The current bearer inherited the title after the precursor civilization ended.
  • Her attacker is described as “a drow carrying a white snake” — widely suspected to be an Al’ar operative, possibly connected to Lolth’s spider motif.
  • She is old enough to know things about Terra’s history that others do not.
  • Her magic lingers on the mountain even in her absence, sustaining the growth of magical crystals there.
