Ingram Warden — Mayor of Morain. A former cartographer and traveller who settled in Morain after years on the road mapping Terra’s interior routes. He has an easier relationship with outsiders than many in town because he was one himself. Currently occupied with research into a series of strange stone pillars appearing at crossroads — a project he has had to delegate to others during a period of enforced quarantine.
Yrelia Morain — A young cleric from Old Ward who has made herself indispensable as a courier and errand-runner between Morain, Chrysalis, and Malachite. She rides a basilisk — a fact that makes her both memorable and practically impossible to intercept. Her family name is the town’s name, though whether she is from a founding family or simply took it as an identifier is a matter of some local debate.
Grothor Morain — Born in Morain, now Speaker of Dragon Logistics and a mayoral candidate for the upcoming election in Chrysalis. He is the town’s most prominent export, and his platform of agricultural rights and environmental preservation is shaped directly by his upbringing here. The town is quietly proud of him, even among those who are unsure about the politics.
Oskar — Landlord of the Bent Road Tavern in Night Hook. A broad-shouldered human in his fifties with a calm manner that rarely breaks under pressure. He is the unofficial information hub of Night Hook, hearing more about the comings and goings on the highland road than anyone else in town.
Dalla — The ferryman of Silk Rock, who keeps the river boats and knows the Rhine’s moods better than anyone. She has been moving goods between Morain and points west for twenty years and has opinions about river conditions that she will share whether asked or not.
