Description
Grothor Morain is a Goliath, born and raised in Town Morain, now Speaker of Dragon Logistics and one of three candidates in the Chrysalis mayoral election. He is Morain’s most prominent export — the town is quietly proud of him, even among those unsure about his politics — and his platform of agricultural rights and environmental preservation is shaped directly by his upbringing there.
Motivations
- Agriculture — Wants to increase food production across Terra, especially in Morain, through new crop varieties, improved irrigation, and expanded farming territory.
- Farmers’ Rights — Aims to protect the interests of farmers and rural communities, securing better financial security, land rights, and access to resources.
- Environmental Preservation — Committed to sustainable farming practices, wanting to ensure Morain’s volcanic soil isn’t overexploited for future generations.
- Personal Ties — Morain is not just his hometown but the source of his pride; he feels a deep responsibility to uplift his community and show that Goliaths can lead effectively.
- Legacy — Wants to leave Terra self-sufficient in food production, remembered as the one who ensured no one goes hungry.
- Sense of Duty — Believes a strong agricultural foundation is essential to Terra’s survival and prosperity as the population grows.
He speaks for farmers and environmental preservation, but Dragon Logistics is actively mapping the underdark for RALA and involved in the classified Horizon Arc Project. It’s left deliberately ambiguous whether Grothor knows the full extent of what his organisation is doing in his name, or has calculated that the alliances are worth it.
Role in the Campaign
- Speaker of Dragon Logistics, Terra’s most widely distributed transportation and cartography company, and one of three candidates in the Chrysalis mayoral election (alongside Elis Kulf and Leonore of Alyss), scheduled for Rhaan 9th (Boldrei’s Feast).
- His campaign works the outer districts — Feygarden and Dawn Town — speaking with farmers and labourers about agricultural policy, gathering intelligence on rival campaigns, and securing endorsements from guild leaders and community figures. His office is based out of the Dragon Logistics location in Northward.
- Positions Dragon Logistics as an ally to farmers and workers rather than the corporate interests of Chrysalis Labs or Malachite Forges — critics note that Dragon Logistics has its own interests in originium research and classified projects Grothor doesn’t discuss publicly.
- Dragon Logistics may see the Horizon Arc Project as leverage — whoever controls orbital capability controls trade, transportation, and military superiority across Terra — though it’s unclear how much of this Grothor personally directs versus what happens under his name.
Relationships
- Dragon Logistics — The faction he leads as Speaker; its underdark mapping and RALA/Horizon Arc entanglements may or may not be fully known to him.
- Elis Kulf — Rival mayoral candidate (Human, current mayor and Labs Speaker), campaigning on technological dominance.
- Leonore of Alyss — Rival mayoral candidate (Tiefling, backed by the Al’ar family), campaigning on representation of the underclass.
- L’oriel Al’ar — Manages the Dragon Logistics office in Malachite; his presence there ties Grothor’s company to the Al’ar family’s influence, likely without Grothor’s full awareness.
- Town Morain — His hometown; family and goliath community ties are cited as a possible thread (“Morain — goliath connections, Grothor’s family”).
